Industrial aluminum profiles belong to aluminum extrusion profiles, which are made by extruding aluminum bars through a mold. During the extrusion process, air is inevitably trapped inside, leading to bubbles of varying sizes on both the internal and external surfaces of the aluminum profile. So why do these bubbles appear? Let's analyze the specific reasons below:
1. Air remaining in the hot shear furnace. Aluminum profile extrusion generally involves using a hot shear furnace to cut the heated aluminum bars into shorter bars before feeding them into the extrusion machine. Because the aluminum bars are heated to a critical point, the cut surface deforms significantly during shearing, especially the edges, where air is easily trapped.
2. Air remaining in the extrusion cylinder. Since the diameter of the aluminum bar is smaller than that of the extrusion cylinder, pressure must be applied to the aluminum bar during extrusion. The aluminum bar expands until it fills the entire extrusion cylinder. If the air is not completely expelled at this time, it will be squeezed into the aluminum bar, forming bubbles when the aluminum profile is extruded.
3. Air trapped at the junction of two aluminum bars. If the cut surface of the aluminum bar is not very smooth during shearing, air is easily carried into the junction of the two aluminum bars, causing bubbles in some industrial aluminum profiles.
4. Improper lubrication leading to air entrapment
5. Excessive thinning of the extrusion. To save material, the final allowance of the aluminum bar during extrusion is too small, causing the metal in the die flow holes to be pulled out during shearing, leaving gaps in the flow holes.
6. Unreasonable mold design. The welding chamber of the flat mold causes the flow holes of the mold to be too large, allowing air to easily flow in.
