Aluminum rods can be roughly divided into eight major categories based on the different metallic elements they contain. These categories are as follows:
I. The 1000 series aluminum rods represent the 1050, 1060, and 1100 series. Among all series, the 1000 series has the highest aluminum content, reaching a purity of over 99.00%. Due to the absence of other technical elements, the production process is relatively simple, and the Price is relatively cheap. It is currently the most commonly used series in conventional industries. Most of the rods circulating in the market are of the 1050 and 1060 series. The minimum aluminum content of the 1000 series aluminum rods is determined by the last two Arabic numerals. For example, the last two Arabic numerals of the 1050 series are 50. According to the international brand naming principle, the aluminum content must reach more than 99.5% to be considered a qualified product. China's aluminum alloy technical standard (GB/T3880-2006) also clearly stipulates that the aluminum content of 1050 must reach 99.5%. Similarly, the aluminum content of 1060 series aluminum rods must reach more than 99.6%.
II. The 2000 series aluminum rods are represented by 2A16 (LY16) and 2A02 (LY6). The 2000 series aluminum rods are characterized by high hardness, with copper as the main element, accounting for approximately 3-5%. The 2000 series aluminum rods belong to aerospace aluminum materials and are not commonly used in conventional industries.
2024 is a typical hard aluminum alloy in the aluminum-copper-magnesium system. It is a heat-treatable alloy with high strength, easy processing, easy machining, and generally good corrosion resistance.
After heat treatment (T3, T4, T351), the mechanical properties of 2024 aluminum rods are significantly improved. The parameters in the T3 state are as follows: Tensile strength 470MPa, 0.2% yield strength 325MPa, elongation: 10%, fatigue strength 105MPa, hardness 120HB.

III. The 3000 series aluminum rods are mainly represented by 3003 and 3A21. China's 3000 series aluminum rod production technology is relatively excellent. The 3000 series aluminum rods are mainly composed of manganese, with a content between 1.0 and 1.5. It is a series with good rust prevention function.
IV. The 4000 series aluminum rods are represented by 4A01. The 4000 series aluminum rods have a high silicon content, usually between 4.5 and 6.0%. They are used for building materials, mechanical parts, forging materials, and welding materials; they have a low melting point and good corrosion resistance. Description: It has heat resistance and wear resistance.
V. The 5000 series aluminum rods represent the 5052, 5005, 5083, and 5A05 series. The 5000 series aluminum rods are a commonly used series of alloy aluminum rods, with magnesium as the main element, with a magnesium content between 3 and 5%. They can also be called aluminum-magnesium alloys. Their main characteristics are low density, high tensile strength, and high elongation. Under the same area, the weight of aluminum-magnesium alloys is lower than that of other series, and they are also widely used in conventional industries. In China, the 5000 series aluminum rods are one of the more mature aluminum rod series.
VI. The 6000 series aluminum rods are represented by 6061 and 6063. They mainly contain magnesium and silicon, thus combining the advantages of the 4000 and 5000 series. 6061 is a cold-treated aluminum forging product suitable for applications with high corrosion and oxidation resistance requirements. It has good usability, easy coating, and good machinability.
VII. The 7000 series aluminum rods are represented by 7075, which mainly contains zinc. It also belongs to the aerospace series. It is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy, a heat-treatable alloy, and a super-hard aluminum alloy with good wear resistance. It mainly relies on imports, and China's production technology still needs improvement.
VIII. The most commonly used 8000 series aluminum rod is 8011, which belongs to other series. Most of its applications are in aluminum foil, and it is not commonly used in aluminum rod production.
