Lowering tariff barriers on relevant goods among RCEP member countries offers certain advantages to domestic exporters.

Compared to upstream products, the import and export of aluminum processed products, semi-finished products, and finished products are more significantly affected by tariffs. If RCEP member countries lower tariff barriers on related goods, it will offer certain advantages to domestic exporters, as China's export volume of aluminum materials and products far exceeds its import volume, and the export volume continues to grow. The annual net export volume of aluminum materials is around 4 million tons. RCEP member countries account for a considerable proportion of export destinations.

Currently, various aluminum materials and products produced in China are subject to high punitive tariffs, including anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties, imposed by multiple countries, including RCEP member countries. However, even so, China's aluminum material exports are still showing an overall growth trend, which is inseparable from the rapid development of the domestic aluminum processing industry, and the overseas market cannot escape its dependence on Chinese aluminum materials.

The signing and subsequent implementation of the RCEP will have a positive role in removing or alleviating the obstacles set by relevant countries for the export of Chinese aluminum materials. However, this still requires further consultations between trading countries and may be difficult to resolve in the short term.
